The ambiance in the lobby feels like a hotel rather than a youth hostel. Facilities are good, though due to the volume of pesky kids around, the cleaning staff were obviously trying hard to cope. Otherwise this place is excellent and has got everything I could ask for in a hostel and more. The Bible says that God rested on the 7th day in fact, he spent the whole day crafting Kex Hostel. KEX is far and away the nicest of the fifteen hostels I stayed in on my RTW trip: from the magnetic letters in the bar to the gigs on every other night, from the instant hot water to the view of Mt Esja out the hostel windows, I loved every second of my visit here. Enjoy the strong coffee, hospitality & the Icelandic humour contained within: this hostel is beyond comparison and you WILL return. Dale, from Australia ~ 14th Jan 2012

The Atmosphere of hostel is great. It's very good place to meet new people (but I didn't- it depends on how your behaviour's friendly) I hope room or lounge is more bright, because it made my eyes tired while reading a book or using a laptop. SUL YEONG, from South Korea ~ 19th Oct 2011

Everything you could want and much much more! The staff is extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgable. I couldn't imagine visiting Reykjavik and staying anywhere else. This hostel was a fantastic place to stay in Iceland! It was full of lively characters, enthusiastic workers, and locals who came up to the pub to hang out and have a good time. Everyone was extremely friendly, and very helpful with booking tours or pointing out interesting spots in Reykjavik and the surroundings. I would defintely stay here again!
