My room smelled like a dead Koala, but besides that it was a lot of floorspace, a fridge (which could need a dash of cologne as well)and a chillout couch. Linen, cuttlery and even pots & pans(!) has to be collected from the reception. The bar was the only part of the hostel that impressed because of the good old classic rock songs they played there:) You can find plenty of better budget accomodations in Cairns for sure...

It´s probably the best hostel in Australia. The twin rooms are like in a Hotel. It was beautiful.Anytime again.

This was my wife's and my first hostel experience - it was fantastic.(We're in our 60's) We would certainly use Koala Beach Resort, Cairns again.

You cannot beat it\'s location, right by everything. However, that was the only good thing. Rooms were basic which is understandable but BED BUGS GALORE! On our first night we came in from a night out, went to get into bed and the sheets and duvet were smothered in biting bed bugs! YUK! Snotty receptionist who didn\'t tell us anything unless we asked. Took an hour to collect us from the airport, after a 16 hour journey, that was a joke! Refunded our money with no probs tho.

Great, huge rooms for a hostel with a kitchenette (fridge, toaster etc) ,a nice sitting area and really big rooms. Very central location and the 7.50 dollar meals in the bar in the evenings are reallz good value and quite tasty!
