School group had the run of the hostel, keeping all the other guests awake and eating their breakfast. The manager had no interest in sorting out the complaints of the other paying guests. Dog bed right outside our door which was very smelly! Michael, from Scotland ~ 12th Sep 2009

Pretty good hostel, especially given the place. Airport pickup and drop off is really helpful. The free breakfast is excellent. A few complaints though: There is no internet access, even though it's advertised. When I asked about it, I was told "yes, there is access but you have to go to an internet cafe in the city and pay for it." That doesn't really count as "internet access" to me. Then, there are lockers in the rooms but the host doesn't have keys and the lockers don't have slots for padloc Roman, from USA ~ 1st Jun 2009

Great hostel to get to know people but also to be left alone, whatever you like! very good breakfast. Staff is friendly, free transfer from and to the airport. Do take your ear plugs with you, there are dogs barking all night, and even worse a couple of roosters keeping you awake! I hardly ever had hot water and almost every day I had to ask for toilet paper, they don't replace it if you don't ask. The absolutely greatest part of the whole stay is the guide Christopher! Ask for tours with him!! Lale, from Germany ~ 27th May 2009

this is a good little hostel, very friendly staff and quiet, its a bit of a walk to the waterfront but near a store. my olnly misgivng is the guest kitchen needs a serious scrubbing and you are required to supply your own dish soap? still its popular and worth a look. david, from USA ~ 2nd Jul 2009

great hostel, airport pick up without even asking for it, friendly staff very welcoming with lots of information, only annoying thing is cockerels and dogs don“t get much sleep, but not hostels fault. Thankyou very much! David, from England ~ 20th Apr 2009

In general, I liked the hostel. But I have to pick out some things.I was very happy about the pick up service from the airport, because it to hot to carry my lugagge.the manager speaks good english and he is very kind and helpful. The ensuite rooms are very good and cleaned every day. common area is the dinning room or the couch outside.it is a good place to share the experiences.Breakfast was ok,but the kitchen is just horrible.book 1-2 nights, and look around which place is the best for you. sven, from Germany ~ 4th Apr 2009

I booked a private, but no privates were available when I showed up (I understand some rooms were being reconfigured at the time). Not to worry: the manager put me into a a private room in a very nice guesthouse just around the corner, and even gave me a ride back to the airport at the end of my stay. So, although I didn't get a chance to stay there, had a positive experience with Kona Tau. Hostel is inland, about a 5-minute walk from the center of the village, and a slightly shorter walk fro Alain, from USA ~ 27th Mar 2009
