One of the ladies working at the Backpackers came in at midnight turning on all the lights to take a mattress out of the room. There were 4 people sleeping. She came back at 5am to return the mattress, again turning on all the lights. I thought it was rather rude and thoughtless. The food was good. Bathrooms in dire need of improvement. Rooms comfortable and generally clean.

Before leaving for Lusaka I tried to call the backpackers to enquire about airport pick-ups - I couldnt get through on landline or cell phone. I sent two emails - I have subsequently returned from Lusaka and have not had a reply or any acknowledgement of my emails. Thankfully I'd managed to arrange to be met at the airport but with no help from the Backpackers. Also they tried to charge me 100% of room cost when I'd already paid a 10% deposit - was told this was a booking fee & they weren't familiar with the hostelworld printout i had. If they are going to accept bookings through the website they should familiarise their staff with the booking arrangements. Other than this I found the location was very good, quite secure and clean and staff friendly.

Having stayed in numerous backpackers around the world, we made a reservation on-line for the above mentioned backpackers more than 10 days in advance. This was confirmed and a deposit was paid. Upon arrival, no one had heard of our reservation (even though we had an e-mail print out), the rooms were all full, my confirmation number meant nothing to them, no one was able to refund us and at 10h30 at night we were left to find our own accommodation in the city of Lusaka, which is dangerous at night. We booked 2 nights accommodation and even the 2nd night was fully booked. Staff were unable to even give us the owner/managers contact number, were unwilling to call a taxi for us, were in general outright rude and refused to give us our deposit back. I would like to know what the next step is? We will be working in Zambia for the next 3 years and I can assure you that everyone will get to hear about Ku-Omboka and their miserable attitude towards their paying customers. Additionally hostelworld must ensure that customers are not cheated out of money. How do I go about requesting a refund for the deposit?

Spacious room, quite clean and nice bar and dining area. Unfortunately none of the staff showed any interest in helping or talking to us. It was a struggle to order food and impossible to engage in a conversion. However, much cleaner and quieter than the Chachacha Hostel.

The Hostel when you first enter is visually appealing but after that it quickly lost it's lusture. The staff was very rude, not friendly, or helpful, with the exception of the bartender. Our room door didn't even have a handle on the inside and the lock was broken. The bathrooms were always out of toilet paper and the showers had electrical current running through the water! This was not a safe or fun enviorment.

Having booked a $15 a night room over 3 months in advance we arrived to be told we could only have a room the same but for $27 per night. The guy who runs the place is a complete creep. ChaChaCha Backpackers a few minutes walk away in infinitely better!!!

I am afraid that I am unable to review my stay in this hostel as I did not stay there. I was under the impression that I had arranged to be collected from the airport; I gave a specific collection time / flight number, however, nobody came to collect me, so I took a taxi and stayed at a different hostel in Lusaka.
