La Casa Barranco is a small hostel situated in a much nicer area than the centre of town. It has only two twin rooms, so if you're looking for a giant backpacker community experience, this isn't the place for you. However, if you're looking for a secure, clean, place with your own room, kitchen, hot water, cable (and a playstation), helpful english speaking staff (a bloke called felipe), all at a comfortable but not to large distance from the action, then I thoroughly recommend La Casa Barranco. I especially recommend this to people just arriving in Lima who'd like a day or so to find their feet.
