Lake Lodge Iseltwald in Interlaken, Switzerland

Great place and great value for money! Very clean and all staff were friendly. Jana was very helpful with everything. There's no internet there but I'm sure it's on the future agenda, could do with a new stove and more of it, no lockers in the room but you can ask them to lock your valuables in their safe. I'm definitely going back :-) One big downside is the local bus that only goes once in the hour and stop at 8pm (do check before going any where - I think the hostel has got a deal with one Sanlina, from Sweden ~ 15th Jul 2009

When people said that the beds were close... That is an understatement! Your mattess (who's pretty thin) is seperated by a 2x6" piece of wood. The hostel isn't in Interlaken and costs $6.20 one way to get there before they give you a freeteansit card for the rest of your travels. Breakfast is a samll slice of bread a piece of chess and a price of salami, a package of butter and jam. Anything else costs extra. Matt, from Canada ~ 4th Jul 2009

Lake Lodge is surrounded by beautiful scenary, so on the basis of location (to nice surroundings, the lake, etc.), it is perfect. It is not close to the interlaken train stations though, so you will have to take a bus if you arrive before 8pm or a taxi after. It's not a long trip (about 20 mins), but the hostel is rather remote. My 7 bed room was not what I expected at all. I wouldn't actually call what I slept on "beds" - it felt like summer camp cots (on the floor) and I can't imagine what olivia, from USA ~ 2nd Jul 2009

Very clean, very quaint, nice spot to stay if you want to be alone but if you're hoping to meet people or go out at night there is no way to get back from Interlaken after 20h without paying 40 Francs for a cab. backbacked for 3 weeks...by far one of the friendliest and coolest hostels i stayed at. Staff was very chill, helpful and made sure everything was going well. Beautiful area (right on the lake) and mountain view is as well. Dorm beds are pretty close, but no problems. Also you get a free bus pass which lasts however long you are staying there so that saved me a great amount of $!
