Cheap as you can get but not a place to stay for more than 2 days. Nothing to do in the area, bus OK to Port Louis. Use the 2 star hotel and pool down the road was OK. If you want a cheap base then stay here, better with own transport.

A small hostel with clean, comfortable and secure rooms. Staff is very helpful and nice. However, it is situated in a residential area, far away from any tourist area, so if you don't plan on using a car, there is not much to do. So, the hostel is a great starting-point for exploring the island, but no good for a simple beach vacation.

Many thanks for our visit on Mauritius. We recommend your hostel for our friends. Because for your human price is it possible to stay longer. Many regards Ritva och Paulina from Sweden

We stayed 2 weeks at Clarel and Fatiha's place. For the price, you can absolutely not get better value for a double room with ensuite on the island. The location is not exactly beachside resort as it is in a residential area, but if you are renting a car and exploring the island it is at a good central location and not far from good beaches. The hosts helped us in getting a car and later, finding and moving to another location on the island for another 3 months once we had scouted the area where we wanted to stay. The staff make the big difference here as they are super friendly and hospitable. Highly recommended!

If the main interest of the place is its price - the rooms have all the confort of a 1 to 2 stars hotel for the price of... a camp site - the house has a lot of character, far from the touristic hordes, and the hosts are charming and very helpful, making a stay more like visiting some relatives abroad. The small shop down is quite a good help. Unlimited internet accessa real plus. Drawback, well, it is far from any place of interest, hence better if you have your own tranport, particularly at night. Still, bus stop is close enough, and Port-Louis or Trou-aux-biches a few minutes away. Definitely very highly recommended.

This is a very special place for Mauritius, where affordable places for backpackers are quite rare. It is comparably incredible inexpensive, and full of very useful features for an extended stay also. A beautiful and very individually shaped house with different rooms, kichens, terrasses, etc. It is within reach from Port Louis, but at night there is really nothing around and the busses don't run after 6pm or so. All in all: We had a nice time there, no complaints so far!

The proprietor met us, as arranged, at the airport and provided transport to the hostel (and back to the airport at the end of our stay) at a reasonable price given the distance. They allowed us to check out in the evening of the last night. Pleasant family, VERY security conscious. Kitchen facilities available but dishes and utensils sketchy. Shop on the premises. Location rather out of the centre of things and not near a swimmable beach either. However the buses run reasonably often – except after 6 pm.
