This was the first hostel i have stayed at and I loved it! It is very cute and cozy. The staff are very helpful. ONly thing- if you go in the spring make sure to take sweaters and scarfs, though the beds are cozy the hostel is quite cool.

The staff here are very nice. Unfortunately, language barriers or simple disorganization make staying here less than amazing. I booked a bed in a girls dorm room for 2 nights and they told me I had to switch rooms. Then, after packing up all my belongings they sent me back to the same room the next night. Also, I dont recommend their organized tours. You are likely to get a guide that doesn't speak English and overbooks the minivan. Most tours they advertise are easy enough to get to, and cheaper, if you go on your own. All that said, for the dorm price, I would possibly stay there again.

It might be useful to mention that the railway line runs right past the hostel. The trains are rather noisey.
I stayed in winter. it was freezing. the AC never heated our room well enough and the entire building was cold. Even though there are AC units throughout all the common areas, only once in our 5 night stay was there one on - and it was only set at 12 degrees! I dn't think I was ever warm throughout my stay at the hostel.

Very clean and friendly. Food could be better, and location isn't ideal but the subway gets you around fine. Would stay there again.

Overall, good stay. Hostel was very clean and secure. Internet (11 mbps - wireless B) worked only in lounge. Two public computers also available. Staff often misunderstands English. Only trash was taken out of our room during our longer than 1 week stay. No linen change or vacuuming. I'm new to hostels and wasn't expecting a 5-star experience anyway. Other useful amenities: printing (1 RMB/page), faxing, phone, SIM card sales, workout room, public TV/DVD, DVD rental (free, decent selection), train/air ticket booking (30 RMB), taxi reservations (free), shuttle to/from Pudong airport (190 RMB), etc.

Best hostel we stayed during our trip. Me and my girlfriend had an ensuite for about EUR 7/pp/n. The room was clean and modern equipped and also the common facilities were gorgeous... free DVD-rental, int. magazines, books, bar, small gym and cheap but delicious breakfast and snacks! It's just a 5 minutes walk to the next metro-station from where you can get within 15-20 minutes to the main sights in Shanghai. Supermarket is right opposite. Negative: the beds are a little hard (like everywhere in China :-)) Enjoy!

I enjoyed my stay here very much. Although, it is not near the sights, it is close to a subway station.

Le Tour was a great place to stay in Shanghai. It's only a couple of blocks from the subway, is very clean, has a very helpful staff, and is right across the street from a restaurant with the best dumplings for 3 yuan a tray. The only downside is the noisy street and subway, but the cute husky puppy that stays in the side yard more than makes up for it.
