To fare from the city center!

Lighthouse Lodge's advertising is misleading in that it says the hostel is located next to Table Mountain - it's not! It's a taxi ride away, as train is not always (during holiday season) safe to use. Area looks a bit dodgy but the hostel in itself is very clean and nice.

Very helpful and friendly staff and interesting location within an 'eco-village'. About 20 minutes outside Cape Town by public transportation, however, which isn't safe or available after dark.

If you're the usual beachparty backpacker, this place is not for you. Which isn't to say it isn't cool. I only had 3 nights, and I wish I could have stayed longer. Lighthouse is a 10 min drive from the center of Cape Town. You'll do better with your own car, but you can also easily walk to the commuter rail or take a taxi. The views are lovely, the hostel is small, and it's mostly occupied by normal friendly people who live there long term. It's surrounded by artists studios, a stable, farm outreach program, and other green businesses on a compound that was once a mental hospital. At times you feel like you're in the country, yet the city is extemely acessible. For peace, quiet, and a unique experience of more than one side to Cape Town, it is definitely to be reccomended!

Was a cool place to chill out in, though from it's original profile on Hostelworld, we found out that it's not on the foot of Table Mountain, bit restricted of things to do after 8.30 when you can't get back from Obz.
