Lisbon Lounge Hotel has been a top-rated hotel for several years in a row, and I can understand why. Clean and staffed 24/7 (no curfew/lockout) with breakfast included (and a very cheap cooked 3-course dinner if you’re up for it), it is a cheap place to stay in the heart of Lisbon. We stayed in early January 2008 in a private room with shared bathroom – none of their private rooms have ensuites unfortunately, though the private rooms seem to be right outside a smaller of the two communal bathrooms on each floor, so you can grab the whole bathroom when you need it. Note that you will need to bring your own towels – bed linen is provided, but towels (and soap for the bathroom) are not, so don’t turn up empty-handed! There are two free internet terminals provided to all guests, though you will probably have to wait to use one as there are quite a number of guests (the hotel is usually booked out from our experience) and people will hog them once obtained. Breakfast is a simple but communal affair, with one big table in the kitchen, and bread rolls, corn flakes, juice, cheese, tea and coffee available (buffet style). You can add your own items to the communal fridge and use the provided toasty maker/microwave oven if you need to. The hostel is located in the heart of Lisbon, with just about everything walking distance, or a short Metro/tram ride away. You need to buzz reception to get in the front door, but as the hostel is staffed 24/7 this is never a problem. Recommended for young people only and those who don’t mind sharing a bathroom; it is a youth hostel after all, and it caters for people as such.

Great hostel, clean, friendly, fun, good location. Just don't follow the website directions if you're coming from Santa Apolonia station - the bus 90 only runs during rushhour. Instead take the waterfront bus (9 or 740) for 5 to 10 minutes until you get to a plaza with an arc (Praça Commerció) get out and walk up the street with the arc until you get to Sao Nicolau - it should take another 5 minutes.

I would only suggest that they instead provide either male or female shared rooms instead of the present mixed rooms or at least provide a choice
