In this hostel the 3 bed room was more like a hotel than hostel. They provided purified water, towels, in room bathroom, AC, toiletries, etc., but they charged hostel prices. We felt in the lap of luxury.

The rooms in this hotel were thick with smoke and were filty. Our bathroom was disgusting. The bathtub was cracked all the way across and you had to be careful not to fall into it. The bathroom had a horrible smell and there were bugs in the water puddles. The staff was rude and unhelpful. There is also no elevator, which may not be a problem for most, but if you have heavy luggage, beware. The restaurant at the hostel is quite good though.

The staff is very helpful, but we felt like always being checked when we are in Internet... there is always someone behind you checking for what we do on internet. It's very unpleasant! No key for the room... every time you have to go to your room, you have to ask someone... Nice service, but the "hotel style" was unpleasant... too much people in the staff doing nothing but checking every movement... I prefer a hostel... I will never go back to the Ludao Hotel...

The beds are really hard! Found it difficult to sleep because of this. Even my partner didn't sleep well and he sleeps anywhere...
Easy to get to from the train station. As long as you don't mind being out of the main Bell Tower area. Easy to get buses nearby and lots of restaurants, fast food, and supermarkets near by. The staff are knowledgeable and speak English well. The wireless internet was intermittent which was frustration though.
We were very happy with everything during our stay!Ideal location and very helpful staff.

We came to this hosel as it got glowing reviews in the lonely planet. The showers were dirty and overflowing, no toilet roll but they sold it in reception! No ticket service, we were told to go to the train station and get our own. We were told Tibet was closed for 2 weeks despite the fact our next hostel is arranging permits and tickets as we speak! I got hairs in my food. The internet was free but its painfully slow and wi-fi was non existent. Theres no atmosphere either! They did however provide a station pickup and arranged our next hostel & the bed linen was clean.

Was impressed from the free meeting of me at the railway station onwards with this place. Good, clean room, good cheap net access, a nice bar area that does good food as well as fairly cheap beer and is a good chance to meet people (I did!), plus the staff were always ready to help me. Only downside I can see is it's a bit of a walk from things like the bell tower etc, but you can get onto the wall or the bus to the Warriors five mins away.

Was not overly impressed with this place. Rooms are looking a bit old but they are clean and the rates are reasonable. Was also pleased they did an aiport pick up at a reasonable. Was most disappointed by the bar staff at night who overtly showed their annoyance at having to serve you. One girl even started being rude and threw a tamtrum every time a new customer walked into the bar past 10.30pm. I would also suggest not taking out a tour from their travel agency. We went on one organised by them to Hua Shan; they call us up on the morning to say the trip is leaving an hour earlier than they told us initially, which then didn't actually leave until two hours later than the original time and involved moving onto three different buses before even starting the journey, all of which were old and uncomfortable. However we did get a good deal from them on getting a driver and car for the day.

Very close to train station but fair distance from centre of town. Good travel and tour info. Free net if you book on Hostelworld is a bonus!
