We didn\'t actually end up stay here - we were shipped off to another Mingtown, which was great! It was very secretive as to why no one was staying at this location. Not sure what happened. Jennifer, from Canada ~ 5th Feb 2012

It's good but nothing to write home about. El staff no nos hizo mucho caso cuando preguntamos un par de cosas, nos enseñaron un mapa y poco más. Ni siquiera tenían mapas de la ciudad o del metro. El cuarto de equipajes se cierra con llave. El bar es bonito pero poco ambientado. Está aparentemente limpio pero huele mucho a pescado porque está al lado de un mercado. It's at a wet market. Fishy smell throughout. pretty clean. Funny sounds at night. a/c not too good in some rooms. mattresses too thin. shower and toilets are pretty clean though. a van parks right in front of doorstep every morning to deliver veggies to market. blocks it totally and is quite annoying. staff don't really bother about it. pretty helpful but lack initiative. can get easily rude when under critism. 3/10 overall. stay here if u have no other choice. I had a great time at Mingtown. Staffs were very fun, and helpful even sometime they didn't know the answer but they were really trying to help. Cafeteria was also great, but they allow to smoke inside, which is bad for non-smoking. The best sleep I have since arriving in China, softer mattress the key! I really would like to know what the make of the mattress is so I can get one for my apartment. Awesome bathroom and shower facilities - the best I have ever encountered at a hostel.The location is as good as it gets for a Shanghai hostel in relation to Nanjing Rd/Peoples Square/The Bund.All are within short walking distance.If I visit Shanghai again, I will stay here.Thanks!
