I had a nice time, and the staff was lovely, but I unfortunately woke up covered in flea bites. However, if you are undeterred by the presence of small pests in your bed you can meet some nice people to travel with and enjoy relative comfort in what seemed like a safe area. Besides, there´s not really any reason to spend more than a bare minimum of time in Managua for the average traveler, so it wasn´t so bad really.
A nice and simple hostel close to Metrocentro. The rooms are clean and there is a big kitchen, a swimming pool and a lounge area with plenty of movies to watch (there's not much to do in Managua anyway). The staff kind of overtries to be nice (that tour around the house upon arrival was a bit weird) but overall it was OK.

Taxi ride from airport will cost you $15. Extremely close 5 minute walk to the very nice Metro Center Shopping Center. The mall has no air condition. Go see a movie at the Cinemaplex for air conditioning for about $3.00. The hostel was very clean. Staff very helpful. Very safe area.

Hard to find, but that's what you would expect in Managua! Lots of good restaurants in the area plus the shopping center at Metrocentro is right there.

Very relaxed place. Nice pool. Friendly staff, kept very clean. Not a very social scene, but a mellow enough place to stay. Beware: not all rooms are air conditioned!!

Odd location, but I suppose most places in Managua felt like that. Greg was great about communicating the plans. Don't count on the pool... I will post pictures, but the rooms were good and the place was clean. Nice patio area and kitchen. Great DVD collection. Must stay quiet. Not the place for people who are looking to socialize at night. Great place while in Managua for transitions!
