The hostel was very nice, clean and comfortable. Plenty of amenities like satellite tv and a good dvd collection - which are needed b/c you're not going to be doing much else in Jo'Burg. Patrick was very nice and welcoming, but also a businessman, looking to make a buck however he can.

Owner very friendly and very helpful. arranged private soweto tour with someone who grew up there that was great. he knew everyone in the neighborhoods. only "bad"was no free pickup from airport even though so close. Even further away hostels at least offer that.

Mbizi is an excellent choice for a Backpackers in Joburg ! You will feel right at home. You meet interesting people & chill out. Patrick, the owner, even came to pick me up directly in the airport ! ps : my only suggestion to a traveller would be to try to plan your activities a little in advance as distances are far in Johannesburg & transportation is a xhallenge at times.
Patrick is a ledgend and hes got a really friendly hostel !!! Its a home away from home, would def reccommend and return !! he goes out of his way to make your stay enjoyable, cant fault Patrick or Mbizi!!! cheers dude, Tom & Nat - S.Wales.
This hostel is by far, one of the best I\'ve stayed in. It was clean, comfortable and had everything you needed. Patrick is perfect host. Airport pickups are seemless. He also has good connections with tours to set up a decently priced trip to Jo\'burg and Soweto. This hostel is close to the airport, which is perfect for most people who need 1-2 nights. Who would want to stay in Jo\'burg proper anyway?
The owner is a great guy, extremely friendly and helpful. Definitely recommended.

The manager Patrick is incredible and his sidekick Felicity is even more so.
One of the best hostels I've ever stayed at! It was really cosy and had a great communal feel. Patrick really goes out of his way for his guests. It's really worth doing the Apartheid museum and the Soweto tour, they're both brilliant. I will definitely stay here if I return to Johannesburg.
