Only one shower had hot water and there did not seem to be any attempts to fix the other showers during the three days we stayed. Our front door key didn't seem to work.. until we were finally told on the second night that there was a "trick" to it: jiggle it in the lock for about 20 seconds. It would have been helpful to have this explained when we were given the key. We were told by one of the front desk clerks that he would be glad to come by our room and give us a wake-up knock, which never came, and when we saw him the next day, there was no mention of it or apology. There was a large spot of blood on the sheets the third day, on the section of the sheet that had been turned down by the cleaning staff.... there is no way that he/she did not see it. Very disappointed.

Our room was cozy, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the price was right! The only downside was the discovery that we'd been bitten by bedbugs during our stay!

I was assaulted in the facility, stolen from, cheated, and was told |SINCE I was traveling alone that I would be 'reported' (arrested) if I called the police about my treatment. You will be getting an indepth report when I return.........

The Melville Hotel was a good place to stay. It was right down the street from the King's Cross Train/Tube station, so it was easy to get in and out of the city. However, if you're looking to check-out early in the morning to catch a flight, good luck. And don't expect to see anyone sitting at the reception area, they're usually hanging out outside of the hotel.

We actually got to stay at the nearby Excelsior Hotel which has been recently refurbished. The rooms are nicer than at the Melville.

We had a wonderful experience at the Melville Hotel, part of the Argyle group of Hotels on that street. The hotels were newly renovated and very modern and clean. We had a color TV and the room was fairly spacious. THere was a nice continental breakfast included in the price and it was cereal, fruit, toast and tea. The Toast and Tea were served to us which was nice. THe hotel was like one block from King's Cross Tube station so was easy to get to the airport with our bags and easy access to the sights of London. I would really recommend this hotel group for anyone. The price was great and the location was ideal. London is a very expensive city and it was nice to save a bit on a room.

Very good location. 2 mins to tube with good connections. Bed was sloping so I turned mattress round and it was still sloping so maybe it was the floor! Would recomment to anyone as good location. If you have a lot of luggage then it's a bit hard to trawl it upstairs with no lift

Our room was small (a bed, a washbasin, a lamp and a little cupboard) but it was all brand new.
Enough if you are all day outside sightseeing.
It was not centric but it was just close to a really good tube and train station. There was a nice view from the window, though.
We felt well treated and attended and we don't have anything to complain about.
There where plenty of restaurants and services around. A walk from the British library and the British museum.
A fair walk from Leicester Sq. and Regents Park.
We enjoyed our stay although it's kind of expensive for the services offered (anyway, generally London is a expensive place!).

It is very near to the Kings Cross station and easy to find. I stayed 3 nights for a single room and I think 30 pounds per night is a very reasonable price! It has a kitchen with microwave oven. Although it has not much fun, I don't care coz I went out a lot and just need a comfortable place to sleep. The black male staff is nice and helpful; the other staff are nice although sometimes have communication problem coz English is not their native language. I would highly recommend friends to come.
