Meramees Hostel in Cairo, Egypt

Excellent place to stay whilst in Cairo, I stayed here for five weeks and could not complain about the hotel. The receptionists : Doaa, Adel, and Ashraf were all perfect throughout my stay, more like friends than staff! I took one trip from the hotel which was to the pyramids south of Cairo: Saqaara, Giza and Dashur. Meramees is one of the best hostels I've ever been. It is really like being home, the staff is really kind and really helpful and you can always find someone to talk or someone to go with to take dinner. Staying at Meramees made my trip to Cairo easier. Mario, from Mexico ~ 24th Jul 2009

I cannot speak highly enough of the Meramees Hostel. I entered a stranger, and left with people I will stay in touch with for the rest of my life, in particular the owner Ash. Ash is one of the most interesting people I've ever met in my life, and I've met more than a few already! After only small talk around my stay, he invited me to go watch a soccer game at a great cafe in Cairo which was a blast! The best hostel I have seen in any country! Free internet, free pick up from the airport or shuttle to the pyramids, 15 foot celings from a classy old british building with a cool old elevator, very close to the museum and metro. Great downtown location. Very close to the Egyptian Museum. Great restaurants only blocks away if you inquire, and also remember to inquire about breakfast because they wont tell you... However, unlike other Cairo hostels this one will not force over-priced tourist traps/excursions.... Don't be discouraged by the entrance/elevator. Andrea Teresa, from USA ~ 25th May 2009
