It was sometimes difficult to wake up the night guard to get let in at night. They need a buzzer of some kind. Robin, from USA ~ 7th Aug 2009

We stayed at Hostel Mezkalito for two nights. First of all the door to our room didn't lock. The staff didn't seem to think that was a problem / afterall they didn't do anything about it. When we picked up our luggage after having left it there for the (last) day, someone had been going through at least one of our bags. Eventhough it was kept in a locked room. Also, it is not uncommon that the water suddenly stops running, when you are taking a shower. Helle, from Denmark ~ 3rd Aug 2009

The staff went out of their way to help. Had a few problems with the tour company which wasn't the hostel's fault... just Mexico Time issues. Don't be in a hurry if you take one of the tours! Good, but really relaxed about the time of return... the hostel's breakfast is yummy, there are lockers in the rooms, and the room was warm when it was very cool outside. Great place to stay. I loved everything about Mezkalito. The facilities were really clean and really nice and I met so many great people there. It's also in a great location and the staff was very acommodating and helpful in planning trips. It was a blast and I would recommend it to everyone stayin in Oaxaca. Shannon, from USA ~ 2nd Jan 2009
