We found the Hostel "Quite adequate" for what we needed, simply, an overnight bed that was clean and reasonably priced. This we got.

Entrance is not actually on George Street - it is on the side street just past the bar! Otherwise, there was plenty of room and everything was clean. Breakfast is provided which is nice as well.

It was a bit more run down than it looked on website. I only met one staff member, a friendly young Chinese student who was on reception. Traffic sounds from outside were very noisy, but that is no fault of the hostel. Great that breakfast and tea/coffee were included. Satisfactory, affordable accomodation.

The hostel was good value and location. We went back for another three nights, however the second time the bed in the room was rock hard (11) - think it was a base, not a mattress!

This place is very clean. The breakfast is more than expected for a hostel (cereal and toast). There is free wi-fi. The location is excellent - very close to central train station - a hub for many city rail lines - and also close to Darling Harbour, a place to pick up the ferries. Also very close to Chinatown, so the food is excellent. The only complaint is that the bed SO hard, so it was difficult to sleep.

I highly recommend this hostel. I had to visit Sydney for business and didn't want a "party hostel". Mountbatten was just what I needed. Clean, quiet and homely. Good location, good services, good character. Security was adequate, as were the bathrooms. I will definitely stay here again. If you want something no-fuss and low-stress - stay here. If you want to party don't stay here. Good value for money, too.
