this is a small communal guesthouse. there were not lockers, so this is something to consider if you are traveling with cameras or other valuables. the staff are incredibly friendly and the kitchen has just about everything.

A truly revolting place that is actually just a stack of bunk beds without sheets or pillows in a superheated, ramshackle dive of an apartment in Harlem. The only saving grace is that I was able to have enough sex with locals that I didn't have to spend more than one night there. Vile.

There is no staff. The bathroom was not clean. We were 8 in a flat with on room. One guy had no bed and he slept on the floor!! the beds are not confortable and they are noisy. It is written that the NYC guesthouse is at 3 stations of subway from the downtown it is at 40mn to 50mn of the center of New York if you take the line E. The information provided on the website was wrong regarding the distance from the downtown. I do not recommend to a woman alone to go in this place in the night due to the aerea.

This place is true filth. No one is there to receive the guest. A guy from a next door house gave us a key from under the door mat and let us in. The bathroom is full of dirt, mold even feces spreaded around. Avoid this mad house. The rooms shown on the site are actually rooms from another place, not this house. The two ladies that run this mad-house one is a citizen and the other is her illegal mom. Don't go there!

It is necessary to provide travellers thicker quilts when it is winter time.

This, by far, made my trip so much better. It was a fabulous place to stay -- Alina was helpful, considerate, and friendly, making sure that we knew where things were and giving us a hand when we needed. It was clean, warm, in a great part of the neighbourhood, and in general ... it made my trip much better, as far as I'm concerned. I've already recommended it to other people, I was so pleased with the guest house. Thanks again, Alina, for everything!

A decent place to stay for a couple of days. I enjoyed reading the funny paper signs pasted all over the guest house by Alina. I never got to meet her, but the signs were funny.

didn't see the owner / manager at all - was checked in etc by random other hostel guests. directions on hostels.com page are wrong as well - you go right out of the subway station, not left
