A lot of guys(means males) live at that hostel for a longer time

I killed a half a dozen cockroaches and this may just be because it is New Orleans and they are unavoidable, but i thought if you just sprinkle boric acid around, they don't come around.

This is definately a hostel that you will never forget. You will experience the local characters in their raw unprocessed state and whos \"unusual\" backgrounds would make a great story for a book. I would not recommend this hostel for girls as it is fairly rough around the edges. But if you are a openminded male traveller looking for a taste of New Orleans life this is the place for you. Just dont expect anything fancy.

I enjoyed my stay here although the area was definitely not my favorite.. you walked a couple of blocks and you found yourself on a creepy part of new orleans but the staff was helpful and gave good advice on what routes to take, then again, I went on Mardi Gras. The dorm I stayed in was ok althought the bathroom was not exactly the cleaniest. The biggest problem in my opinion was that it is quite far from the french quarter if you have to walk but it you take the bus a few block away it\'s okay.

A quick check of other places (and their costs) to stay in the area makes this a perfect place to stay. It's right between uptown and the French quarter and only a block away from the St. Charles streetcar line. Also within a block is a grocery store that serves food until about 5 p.m. and a 24-hour bar/restaurant/laundry mat. I had no problems with employees or guests at the hostel. Forgive my review for not being more snobby and pretentious. ;)

Fabulous time! The staff were awesome, the guests intriguing, the place a beacon in the night... good vibes!

I discovered after a couple of days that the St. Charles Ave. streetcar was just a block over and one down. Quick cheap way to get to the French Quarter.

Only thing about this place that really bugs me is the beds! The mattresses are absolut crap & there are no slates so it's like sleeping in a hammock! Besides that the rest is not bad at all...

I have stayed in many hostels across the country and found this to be one of the least attractive. However, the location at the edge of the Garden District and near a streetcar stop is excellent. I was in an upstairs room and the stairs were not in very safe condition and although I intended to return, I chose not to.

Everything you'd expect from a good hostel. The staff was friendly and helpful. There were interesting people hanging out in a nice courtyard. The rooms were far from luxurious, but c'mon its a hostel!
