- “ The building is authentic but quite old. It is inside a huge garden. I think that's why there are many bugs around. Besides, it is comfortable and nice. ”

- “ The WIFI is terrible, there are people who leave there and they are very disrespectful. I had an amazing time over there just because I was very lucky to meet amazing backpackers that became my friends but we barely stayed at the hostel. Program your trip earlier and try not stay there! I hated the fact that everybody was paying less than me just because I used this site! Is cheaper booking directly to the hostel! ”

- “ Facilities are about what you expect for $20/day, moderately clean. Lockers would have been nice. I checked in late, so the staff stayed late to give me a key, which was nice. Overall good value. ”

- “ The private room building is lovely but needs a through, deep cleaning. The staff is very nice but the whole place really needs a hard cleaning. The communal kitchen is a disgrace and smoking should be banned from the hostel totally. ”

- “ I have been here in the past when it was very well run. Bless their hearts but the staff seems to be a bunch of lazy alchoholics. A guy who doesn't even live there comes over and tries to hook up with the younger women when they are drunk. Floors are not vacuumed, garbage is sometimes picked up, sometimes not. It was wearing. ”

- “ My first time staying at a hostel & I was very scared to stay at Marquette House. But I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the private room & the friendliness of the staff. While not the most luxurious of accommodations, the Marquette House, was exactly what we needed for a group of 6, perfectly priced & within walking distance of the Super Dome. I would definitely recommend & stay here again; something I didn't expect. We had a positive experience and zero complaints. Great experience ”

- “ Lockers would be great. Working and clean toilets, bathrooms severely lacking. I couldn't even use the bathroom in my dorm. Great to just pass out and go on. I wouldn't stay for more than one night. ”

- “ I think the hostel has so much potential to be a great hostel, but it just isn't right now. It's in a great location right off of St. Charles st. & the building looks great from the outside and even inside it is not too bad. The room and bathroom were clean, but a fellow bunkmate had a lot of bed bug bites after staying there two nights. I did not, but I never felt comfortable on their mattresses. I think if the owner were to inject some new life by some new staff would be a great start. ”

- “ The lobby was beautifully decorated for Mardi Gras and there was free coffee in the morning. The sheets and towels were snow-white and the facilities were older but appeared to be well-maintained. Even though it was somewhat like a rabbit warren, I slept undisturbed. And, most importantly, I experienced NO bedbugs! ”

- “ The hostel was a good value in a good location for a reasonable price. My issue is with the staff. Our group got a bad vibe from them the minute we checked in. All seemed very shady. On the second day my car keys got knocked off my key chain at some point. It became obvious that the staff had them up but refused to admit it or give them back before the morning. We were forced to leave because there was no way to secure our car. ”

- “ It was relatively safe and in a good location, close to an easy bus line. That is the only positive thing I have to say about this hostel. My sister and I have stayed in hostels throughout the world, and this was by far the dirtiest. It stank of smoke and was stuffy. It was filthy when we arrived and just kept getting worse. It was not cleaned during our three days there, the trash wasn't even emptied. While laundered, our sheets were stained. 18 females shared one shower and two toilets. ”

- “ everything is excellent, except for the coffee (I mean the brown hot liquid with no taste :). I highly recommend this hostel! ”

- “ The hostel was in a good location because you come easy from the hostel to Bourbon street by bus or you can even take a 30 minutes walk. The 14 bed female dorm was better than I expected because the beds were devided in different sections. It seems as if you sleep in a 4 bed femal dorm and not in a 14 bed dorm. The toilets are directly in the dorm room which some people are not fine with, but to me it was ok for 4 nights. I did not smell anything. All in all it was good and cheap. ”

- “ They dont have lockers, thats a big minus! But you can give your stuff to the reception. Besides that I had a great time and meet some good people. If you go there take your time to talk to the people living there. I had a lot of fun with them. Would come back! ”

- “ My room was quite ok. It was a private room with King size bed. It was really big room, containing a couch as well as a table with 4 chairs and surprisingly also a kitchen with a refrigerator, microwave and a coffe machine. It was clean, but it went warm as soon as the airconditioning was turned off and then it starts to smell musty. The WIFI didn't work in my room. I could use it while sitting on the balcony in front of another room 15m away but the connection to the internet was really bad. ”

- “ The pictures do not show the hostel. But the hostel itself is very nice. The 14bed dorm is not a single room with 7 double bunks. Instead it were 3 more or less individual rooms. There were 2 showers, 2 toilets and 2 sinks for 14 beds and everything worked out just perfectly fine. ”

- “ My experience at Marquette house was perfect. we were a group of six and we got literally a nice house for us. Plenty of space, nice yard to chat at night and ver y good public transportation to get to the convention center. I highly recomend it for groups. I hope to go back some day... ”

- “ It's not a single hostel, but a series of buildings on two blocks. I stayed in the dorm, which was one row of connected rooms without doors, except for the shower. There were smells from the toilet stalls whenever someone used them, but never lasted more than ten minutes. The bunk beds were very uncomfortable and I was concerned about waking the other guests when I tossed and turned, as the bed squeaked. Located just out of walking distance from downtown, it would be ideal if you had a bicycle. ”
