i turned up at newtons roof top hostel and it was the worst accommodation i have ever seen ,so i could not stay there is was delapidated and refurbishment and painting was being done.so i did not stay there and i wish to have a refund as i will report this to the relevant association that governs you.you also do not include an adddress or phone number.this is against the law. waiting your response and full refund.

Helllo Hostels.Com, Newton's was a real disapointment and we only ended up staying one night. Our room was filthy and not fit to sleep in - the sheets were dirty and they had no available clean sheets. What's more, the '300 metres to Cobacabana Beach' was misleading: it's more like one kilometre.

Rio should have very good level hostels as the touristic city it is. At the same level for example of buenos Aires has. This hostel is just AVG. The crew does not speak english. Only the owner.

This was my 3rd time in RIO and it`s not really worth it to stay in other neighbour rather than in COPACABANA, it never sleeps. The hostel is 400 mts from the beach, and you get to see the forest and mountains from its windows and rooftop. The owner organizes free rides and speaks lots of languages, he´s cool, and so the breakfast. I´ll be back Newton´s rooftop!!

When you go abroad you need to feel secure and confortable. This hostel does not reach these two items as you have extemporaneus rooms that you keep closed with a padlock. In addition, neither the kitchen nor the bathroom seemed to be clean enough. As a consequence, I left the hostel on the first day loosing what I paid for booking.

Hi, Newtons is a good place to stay!! The Hostel is a bit run down but the staff is very friendly and they organise free tours and give good advice what to do. On Friday we had free drinks!! Never seen that at another place! Thanks. The Hostel is popular with israelien travelers. http://groups.msn.com/umdieweltreisen

I would recommend this hostel to any body. The owner (newton) gives tours in rio that we had not even seen in any tour books and they were totally FREE, he also can organise all the major tour for you and at a very good rate.
