Hostels in Portugal are in another league when compared to other European hostels. I was a little skeptic when every single hostel in both Lisbon and Porto were in the 90ś, but they deserve it. Poets hostel has a huge lounge, knowledgeable and friendly staff that have daily dinner parties, and comfy beds with tiny security lockers (but you can fit the essentials in them) underneath. Breakfast means cornflakes and toast with jam and marmalade with tea so pretty good. When youŕe first getting to Porto, find the Tower they are talking about and when you need to turn onto Travezz (or however you spell it), keep your eyes open because its a tiny alleyway!
Definitely coming back when I return to Porto. Drink as much wine as you possibly can while there.

Great hostel: Double rooms at 40 euros are great, a lovely balcony with great view on the Cathedral. Modern, quiet and very clean.

I was there for the weekend with my 22 year old daughter and we had the double room. It was the best place I have ever stayed. The staff were more than good, they made us feel welcome. The atmosphere was wonderful, we were invited for a meal there one evening too. The garden is just great, and what a view. It was so good we hardly felt like leaving to visit Porto. Well done.

Staff was extremely helpful in suggesting things to do. They also let us keep our bags there for the day after we had checked out because we had a late flight.
The hostel is in a great location. It's a little hard to find at first but once you get there its great. Great living room for everyone to hang out in. Staying in this hostel definitely made the trip that much better. Could not imagine a better place to stay.

Great little getaway place, nicely decorated, feels like a hotel almost.
But when I was there the people weren't exactly 'hostel' people. If you're looking to party and meet a lot of people, you won't get that here.
The view is great.
