I believe that I was the only person staying in the hostel at the time. There are signs up for dinner and breakfast everywhere but I was told that was not happening. It was a little bit of a walk from town. But the room was very nice and clean.

Great hostel in a great location. We seemed to be the only people there, but I imagine when busier it would be a lot more fun!!

This is a great place to stay. The owners are very friendly. There are a lot of interesting places close to the ryokan. Their onsen is great. I hope to come back one day.

I had a wonderful time in Japan and the people are so very friendly and kind. The staff of Oyado Iguchi were very friendly and nice and I would recommend this hostel to my friends and family.
We were there during the off season so we were able to have the hot spring bath to ourselves which was great. The hostel was clean and a great base for Shirakawago!
The staff was friendly. The rooms were traditional japanese with tatami floors and a good size. Its location is a little bit out of the way from most of the town's sites. With all the little canal-like rivers made it a pretty town to walk around in. The Hotel faces one of the main rivers. Not very fun inside, but I stayed during the week in the middle of february and there was really no one else there.
Very nice ryokan with excellent service! The staff is very helpful, as pick up service from the station is provided. With all that heavy luggage, we really appreciated that :)

We enjoyed our stay in Takayama however the staff were not particularly friendly and there was dirty laundry left in the corridor outside our room for 24hrs. Our bath robes were taken after our first shower to be washed (I presume)and were not returned for the remaining two nights we were their. In addition although we booked for three nights the hosts only expected us to stay two nights. This was not a problem as it is the off season for travellers however may have posed a problem if we were there in the height of the holiday season. In general I thought the staff could improve on their attention to detail.
