I had some problems with the staff, each time had a different person, some times a good staff, another time horrable, it was during after 4am. Carolina, from Brazil ~ 23rd May 2012

The hostel itself has some decent rooms, but there's no 'hostel feeling' due to lack of common room. The breakfast is great, but it feels as if you're in a hotel lobby. However, what I really found disappointing is, that the hostel manager overcharged me with the 10% pre-payment. Although I was a bit jetlagged at the moment, but my protests were to no avail. The reply of the manager was: 'check it out with hostels.com, if you like' ?! This is cheating! I now payed 110% of the normal do Renatus, from Netherlands ~ 20th May 2012

The best thing about Parthenon hostel is the location. So many other hostels is so fare away. From Parthenon hostel you can walk to Millenium park. Union station and Willis tower is just 5 minuts from the hostel. The free breakfast were the best I´ve had in a hostel. I whould definitely recommend to stay at this hostel during your stay in Chicago. Jonathan, from Sweden ~ 26th Mar 2012

I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the bathrooms, as well as the comfort of the beds. There was one issue when I arrived with the staff changing the sheets on the wrong bed, and the other person living in my room had to switch beds. The staff was very nice and fun to talk to. The location of the hostel is surprisingly far from the more interesting sites in the city, and is not particularly close to public transportation. We did a lot of walking. Making people pay 2 dollars more for keeping their luggage for a few hours when they do not really pay attention to them is exaggerated. Arnaud, from France ~ 16th Mar 2012

This is greater than I expected. I just came in from Toronto to Chicago and checked in at 6am. The staff sat me down in the beautiful dining hall and the were dressed up in a suit preparing a breakfast for 7.30. I had free breakfast and I got to tell you it was unlimited foods. The lefted my bags their and walked around till the room were ready till 1pm. When I came back the room was clean and the 3 other people there were freindly. This is way better than a hotel and would always go there. hafeaz, from Canada ~ 9th Mar 2012

FACILITIES: There were a number of issues with this property. One, when you have a communal shower, you expect to have a hook or a bench outside the shower to place your clean, dry clothes. This was not always the case. Two, the window blinds in my room did not even cover the entire window, leaving perhaps the last half foot exposed to daylight, making sleeping in difficult. Three, sleeping is difficult anyway with how noisy the creaking stairs and the other noises. Four, change the carpet! Matt, from USA ~ 7th Mar 2012
