Good hostel and nice bar, and it's also the cheapest place in town to book tours/tickets. However it is not close to any beaches, so if your looking to party at night and lay on a beach during the day, book something at Patong Beach. Cole, from Canada ~ 1st Dec 2011

Nice, clean place to stay relatively cheap as well. The biggest problem is that there is nothing really in the area. There is a night market nearby, but it is only open on the weekends. Limited choices in places to eat nearby. The hostel itself is great clean rooms, movies available, great staff, but the location means that I wouldn't stay there for more than a day or two. I really liked this place. It rained a lot during my stay, so I spent a lot of time hanging out in the really comfortable common areas, meeting other travelers. This place was really cool. The workers were very accommodating with our trips to Phi Phi island and helped me upgrade my room to a more air conditioned room for an extra $250 Baht for one night. Get the rooms with air con. its worth it. Glen, from USA ~ 21st Apr 2011

There is not much to say about Phuket Town, we only stayed there one night on our way to Koh Phi Phi. But we had a very pleasent stay at Phuket Backpacker, even though it is hard to tell after only one night. But it was clean, and there is dvd's, free internet, a nice bar/restaurant and big clean rooms. It felt secure and safe and we liked it very much - a same the location in Phuket Town is so bad. Overall a place with a lot of character, well organized and well run.HOWEVER, woke up covered in ants (bed literally crawling with them).Also, receptionist lied about taxi availability to the airport (made a phone call evening of our departure and claimed it was not possible to get a taxi that evening, we were going to miss our flight and would we like to stay another night?).Got a taxi within 2 minutes of leaving the hostel.
Dear Suzanne We are so sorry for your unpleasant feeling about the ants. Normally our lovely maid will spray the room everyday for insects prevention .This should be one mistake and we will push more effort to prevent this. For the taxi we never lie to any clients. We try to call the license taxi for you but no one available that time. The taxi you get outside is the illegal partime job taxi not the license one. We are soory for your unpleasant feeling but you can see from our past record that our client happiness is our mission.
