some people have said some bad things about this place...but I think most of them are just moaning for the sake of it. Bettys place is great, the price is good, the breakfast is good, the showers are fine, and there are fans in every room and airconditioning in some too! Betty is friendly and is a gold mine of information on the dominincan republic...recommended to backpackers!

betty's was full even though i mad a reservation. so they sent me down the street to another hostel owned by her friend, who was a little creepy. he also told me he was going to tech me a lesson about paying attention when i couldnt unklock his front door (even though he never showed me how). i wouldnt stay here again.

This hostel was overall a very good place to stay. It was a bit in the ghetto- but so is all of Santo Domingo. I was walking distance to many things and the grocery store. We never had the chance to meet Bettey, however Dan was very helpful and kind.

The place is just great, so close to the centre, 5 minutes walking to the boats departures towards Capri, Ischia, Sorrente... If you are lucky you\'ll get a room with a fantastic view to Naples bay ! Even if I was not that lucky I appreciated the cleanliness of the place, the friendly and very professional staff, and will go back there for sure, asking for a room with that beautiful sea view ! You get breakfast (plenty, fresh and nice), free Wifi, and staff open to your questions and wishes. A very good place to stay.

Technically, Bettye's was full (even though this is what we booked) so she sent us to an unlisted auxiliary just around the corner. Everything here works with knowing the right people and if you look like you are not a local they try to trick you and sell you everything. This also applied to the hostel manager. So, we had to keep saying 'no' to all of it and this was annoying. Other than that, it was a good place to stay in Zona Colonial.

Bettye was amazing! Great location, right next to El Conde, bars, and nightlife in Santo Domingo. This is a total must stay if traveling to the DR!

The location was great, it was right in the middle of everything. Bettye was also very nice and helpful. I would definitely stay there again.

This was an excellent hostel. It's in a nice location in the center of the colonial district, you can walk to just about everything. The interior is filled with artwork, its got plenty of space to hang out in, and there's free internet access. John, the manager of the place is very helpful and personable, I would definitely stay here again.

Fantastic location and well managed hostel. Only Downsides are that there are a lot of bunk beds in the room, which would make it VERY busy if all were full, and the fact it opens onto a rather noisy street. For a budget stay i dont think this place can be beaten!
