  • The hostel is ideally located (right by Wakiki beach), staff is efficient and welcoming, however we were not happy with our private room with an old creaking bed and worn out mattress, and a poorly cleaned and maintained bathroom. Also the street is very noisy with people shouting out insults in the middle of the night. Overall we did not get much sleep, so I would recommend this hostels only for party-goers who can sleep no matter what, not for hickers who need to recover from their sightseeing

  • Not very clean and poor kitchen facilities. But if you want to party in Waikiki, it's a good place to stay. 300m from the beach.

  • Hostel was not what it described on Internet. Bathroom was bad. Felt like back in the college dorms. Place need to put more attention on cleanliness.

  • I tried 3 different hostels on my stay in Oahu! This was the only one where there is someone in the reception 24h, the matress were good condition, shleves in the room and toilet to leave your stuffs, individual closet with space for lockers (bring your won), and electronic card to acces de room! By the way, I stayed in a 4 bed mixed dorm! Sheets and pillow case are not stowed in a clean area, 1$ to rent a towel! Very good location, not noisy at night!

  • You get what you pay for. This is a great location with staff that are normal people (not hotel drone people) who are friendly and helpful enough. The private room we had was in the back of a dorm so didn't feel especially private. The place is run down but at that price on this strip of land in the state of Hawai'i, I don't know how they could improve it. The hostel is tolerable at worst & a good place to meet people at best. Newlyweds on a budget (us) - spend a few more bucks elsewhere.

  • The best thing about this hostel was definitely the staff. They were amazing! Also the location is great: close to the beach, shops and restaurants. Cleanliness was okay, could have been better though and the building seemed pretty old. Also, taking a shower was difficult when there was no pressure and the water was just slowly dripping. Still, I would go back there. Atmosphere was good and you got to meet new people especially on trips organized by the hostel (higly recommended).

  • Great place and excellent value for the money. Late night staff was very helpful when arriving. Old guy in the early morning has typical old guy attitude. But the rest of the staff are great. Stayed in a 8 person room mixed room - plenty of space for storage and bags.

  • My parents and I stayed there for a layover leaving to Australia. The hostel was far from the airport, but for $1.50 for the bus and a quick spot for a shower and bed, it was worth the money....It was our first hostel experience. My parents are used to staying in Hilton's and Marriott's, I did the booking so let's just say they know what a "hostel" is now,lol....Seemed like a popular place. Great location! Right across from Zoo, Wakiki Beach, and Diamond Head.

  • Was really nice! It was a bit loud at night though. A lot of sound coming from outside. Sounds like people loading bottles onto a truck or something.

  • The location is excellent - two blocks from the beach and bus stops, walking distance to shopping. Staff were friendly, atmosphere was fun (lots of foreigners backpacking), and the cost was pretty low. The kitchen gear was a little minimal, but there are plenty of eating options around (both groceries and restaurants). Keycards to all the rooms and a locked room for storing luggage.

  • Overall it was a good experience. The beds and bathroom left some to be desired but I've had worse. AC was just a fan on the floor but I adjusted after a day or so.

  • I stayed here passing through Honolulu on an overnight layover, so just for one night. It was cool, had a nice time, friendly staff, had a nice time walking around Waikiki and talking story with fellow travelers. No complaints, had a spot to stash my stuff that seemed pretty safe. Some others that i looked at had a minimum two night stay so that. looked like they have plenty of beach toys to use and excursions to explore the island.

  • My stay at the Polynesian was a pleasant one. There are some things I wish would have been different but overall it was good. I stayed in the 8-bed dorm and had to share 1 bathroom with everyone in the room. A half bathroom would be ideal so you don't have to wait for someone to shower just to brush your teeth or use the toilet. Also, I think it'd be great if more tours like the North Shore day long trip were offered and hiking trips and trips to the falls. Alem was great!
