Was easy and quick to get to from Novo Rio bus terminal. I took a cab there and arrived at the start of a favela where a young Mulato insisted he´d take me up to the pousada and then took my bag out of the cab for me. Poor guy carried this heavy bag right to the top and when we got there I gave him R$5, he didnt ask for it but I thought he earned it. Anyway he gentled hustled for a bit more but then gave up and went. All in all I found everyone in the favela from the young to the old very friendly, welcoming and genuinely nice. I got lost inside the favela too many times wandering into peoples gardens/houses but was only met with a laugh and then directions back to the pousada. A good all round experience with nice friendly staff too. I would return, thank you Andreia, Paola and Marcos !!

It is a experience to stay there. It is really exhausting to get up there, so this is nothing for getting down and forgot something and get it quick...... And at this time I have been there were not many other guest, so that was really sad, because I travelled by myself and it would have been awesome to have somebody to chat and to enjoy the amazing view..... But I would go again!

It is a nice clean place, but a bit too far and dark to come home in the evening/night. Stunning views, but to be honest there are much cheaper and easily accessible places in Catete nearer to the centre to save unnecessary faff!

The place was a difficult to find on your own but we were picked up by the driver and knew the way from there on. The area is safe and secure (although the local taxi driver did tell us to be careful). We were uneasy at first but after day 1 were very comfortable and felt safe in the area. The views from the rooms are fantastic.
