This place looks like a squat thats been handed over to the squatters to run a backpackers in. sure the murals and pics on the walls are cool but the upkeep makes you feel like your in a condemed building, shitty showers and toilets. A JUNKIES PARADISE!!!

The bed was comfortable and it was clean. The staff were friendly and fun, the facilities were ok. It was well priced for its location. The building is quite old, and most of the fittings need replacing/updating. Holes in walls. It just needs refurbishing. But for the price it was perfect. I really enjoyed out stay in the hostel and in Edinburgh

There are a lot of stairs but its no real problem if your just traveling with a back pack. Staff are friendly. There are lockers in the rooms but you need to supply your own lock or purchase. Generally pretty clean. There is a sink in the room. Kitchen and common room pretty small. There are a lot of permanent residents living here, so you do get a bit of a feeling like your invading "their" space at times and they are of course very clicky with one another. Would recommend the place though for a night or two.

Possibility to open wide windows in multi-bed rooms might be nice.

Good location but suprised with the \'fancy\' wall painting. A non smoking condition resulting all people standing outside the main entrence, feel unsafe. Noisy because next to the bar. No shower room near by our room. Suitable for those only need for a bed with nothing else.

Very friendly staff, but the bathroom/shower facilities are very run-down.

After the fffirst shock of no lift and 77 stairs we loved the place and would return again. Jill

Good location in the city, but it is up 77 steps...long to go with a big back pack! The place wasn\'t that clean, but decent enough for the one night that we stayed before taking off to a Highlands tour (highly recomended).

The entrance and the stairs of the hostel are very dirty, dark and dangerous. There is no lift (the hostel is in the 4th floor). The toilets and showers are the worst i've ever seen. This is the worst hostel i've been in my life.
