Very nice, value for money.. Great location and the ladies that work there will nurse you :-) Big dorm a little cramped though..

This place was great apart from the amount of moths in our room! Breakfast was included which was great. Excellent bathrooms and kitchen facilities. Internet access in bedroom was great. Had such a good time here! Would go again for sure!

I wouldn't recommend Red Star, it's certainly not the best hostel in Sofia... and I was kind enough

We booked to stay in the 3-bed ensuite room, which turned out not to be en suite; the bathroom and toilet were actually adjacent to the room. This should not be classified, therefore, as an en suite room. The beds were rather hard and cleanliness was questionable. That aside, the hostel came across as a decent social hub to meet fellow travelers/backpackers and what it lacks in facilities is made up for by the service given by the cheerful and hospitable staff.

Our room was double-booked so we were given an alternative room at the sister Internet hostel which was great. The twin room was very comfortable and spacious, and the breakfast was lovely (especiallly the jam!)

The above rating goes to the INTERNET HOSTEL. We didn't actually stay at the Red Star Hostel but got moved by the staff to the Internet Hostel down the road. Was really disappointed as we would have liked to stay at the hostel we choose. However we were explained that the hostels were all owned and managed by the same owner so there wouldn't be any difference. Staff were lovely and very helpful, but still we did pick to stay at the Red Star Hostel and not the Internet Hostel.

I stayed at dorm and was clean, quiet, but a bit cold. I was provided blankets and heater so it was comfortable. I was told by some tourist that one room was noisy at night. I stayed in the same room the other night and it was very quiet and later was told by the staff that the road nearby that room get really loud on Friday. So if go, make sure ask to stay in a quieter room if you are planning to stay on Friday night. Staff is multilingual, and very helpful. Internet is provided.
