Regent House Hostel in Cairo, Egypt

We´re glad we chose Regent House, as even though it's not got many frills (needs a paint job and some maintenance) the staff & management really helped us to do everything we wanted in Egypt-which is the reason for going! They arranged it all from our hostel, at MUCH cheaper prices than back home-Thanks. Outside hostel, be prepared for CRAZY Driving & very pushy Egyptians trying to squeeze all your tourist money from you. Stayed here for 4 nights and was very happy with my stay. Good central location for getting around Cairo and the staff, especially Atef who is the owner, were very friendly and always offering tea. Rooms are very large and clean with wireless internet in the rooms as well as internet access in the lobby. Atef also organised a day tour to Alexandria for me which was very good. I was disappointed i already had tours organised when i stayed here because Atef has a number of tours of egypt av Daniel, from Australia ~ 24th Jan 2009

Me considero todo un mochilero.. he visitado mas de 40 hostales y este sin duda se a llevado el premio al peor de todos, sus directivos no van a intentar otra cosa que sacarte el dinero, los cuartos NO SON COMO EN LAS FOTOS total falta de limpieza! intentad buscar otras alternativas ya que el centro esta a rebosar de hostales!! TERRIBLE EXPERIANCE!! We made a booking and paid deposit for 3 nights but didnt stay one...the place is dirty and old, the pictures dont show this...i could have put up with that for the price but not the hard sell on arrival. The greedy manager behaved disgustingly when it became clear that we would not line his pockets with out money for tours we were not interested in booking. He was patronising, condesending and has as much charm and sales technique as a slug! It is clear that he prays on

thank you at all but all of this because we asked him to pay money for air port pick up and he refused it is only his own problem not of us that we are so kind to our guest
