Great location in St Lawrence Gap if you want lots of choice where to eat and drink. Very friendly staff. Cheap place to stay by Barbados standards, though some might prefer to pay more for luxuries such as better air-con, bar, pool etc.

Staff needs to allow clients to use internet after hours as that was advertised. Staff needs to understand that telephone is for customers 1st. Not as personal phone number of staff after hours.

This was a last minute trip and all the hotels of interest to me had been sold out. This was the only availabe place in the St. Lawrence Gap location(which is where I wanted to stay)and suited my budget at this time. The owners were polite but I found the housekeeping staff had a bad attitude. I think that they tend to confuse service with servitude, but I found this attitude was pervasive throughout the service industry in Barbados. As I said, the property itself was adequate for the price. I arrived on the Monday for an 8 day stay. There is a sign indicating that the bed linen/towels are changed once every 3 days. I had brought my own, good thing because the sheets did not appear clean when I arrived. On the Thursday I was out all day and when I returned I assumed the sheets had been changed, but they appeared to be the same. The towels were changed, however. I decided to mark the sheets for the next time they were to be changed. I spent the day out and when I got back and checked the sheets, they were the same sheets, the same towels, the marks I had made were still there!! The other thing I found very frustrating is that the bath tub was never cleaned in the 8 days I stayed there. It's a good thing I brought my flip-flops! The sink was cleaned every day and the floors swept and the room appeared clean to the untrained eye. The kitchen was always clean and well kept. I have been to Barbados many times before and so I could not rate this property in terms of the Fun category. I did not require the property owners to entertain me as I knew my way around the island and knew where to go to have Fun. I would stay there again but only if there is a change in attitude with housekeeping staff. I usually bring my own towels and sheet when I travel for situations like these.

We couldn't have been happier with the Rio Guesthouse. From the moment we arrived the staff memebers were friendly and helpful. Our room was comfortable and clean, the kitchen was well stocked with cooking and food storage options, the balcony and lobby were easy places to interact with other travelers, and the library was handy. The Rio's location was ideal with the beach and all of St. Lawrence Gap just out the door. We had no trouble traveling over the entire island on the excellent bus system which was easy to access from the Rio. We highly recommend the Rio Guesthouse for comfort, friendliness and convenience. We enjoyed the casual atmosphere, friendliness & helpfulnness. The location was good for our needs. we are recommending it for our kids , friends have alteady been! Thankyou ladies wish we could have stayed longer.

The Guesthouse was very clean! I was not expecting, in a hostel, to have someone come in my room daily and sweep and make my bed. The Gap is quite the happening place, which is fun & convenient, but it can also get a bit noisy at night. The staff took very good care of their guests.

In comparison to the averadge priced accomodations on Barbados, the Rio is an inexpensive alternative with shops and beach in walking distance.
