Best hostel I´ve ever stayed at.

Absolutely my favorite hostel of the several that I´ve stayed at in Rio. Cozy, family feeling, welcoming & colorful. Nice chill-out rooms, good book exchange & dvd movie selection, a lovely rooftop terrace (even with a tiny pool) & great views. A friendly, charming place. Staff has been very helpful & always knows the best stuff going on each day. Not the best choice if you want to be 2 steps from the Ipanema beach, but totally the best choice if you want real Rio (the nightllife of Lapa a 10 min walk downhill, the famous yellow streetcar rattling by outside, the little shops of Santa Teresa a 10 min walk uphill, & short (cheap) taxi rides to the Christ & to the great samba schools). You can always take the metro to Copacabana if you want a day at the beach. Street traffic on the cobblestone street outside can be noisy - bring earplugs if you want to sleep late - but the view & the charm of the neighborhood are worth it. I decided to stay here an extra week, it felt so comfortable and cheerful.

I normally would not bother to fill out this questoner, but this hostel really diserves it, they have a cool chill out area with cool records and a fridge full off beer plus a swimming pool, so what else do you want. The night life just down the road is brilliant with a really local flair; not many tourist. location wise its a bit far form the beaches, but this is compensated by the quality of this hostel, i was on a stage, that i did not want to leave; i met people they have been there for a month, because they liked it so much even though they origanally planned 5 days. Probably the best hostel in the worl; and i have been travelling a lot.
