I stayed for 2 weeks and loved the place. Location is good and i met a lot of great people. Although the rules at night are strict, and at first it was difficult to go along with, generally staff are lovely and people staying are great! However, i do think the no drinking after 9pm rule should be reconsidered! Im goign to miss this place...oh and hire Edem!x

Awful! Cramped space, no proper communal lounge area, some incredibly rude and condescending staff members who will treat you more like children than guests. The location is also a 40 minute bus ride from pretty much everywhere else in SD, so only stay here if you plan on doing loads of surfing. Things were so dire here I switched hostels after a day and went to the HI downtown which was a billion times better in every way.

Horrible night of snoring, loud, inconsiderate, smelly travellers. Looks to be a fun place for partying backpackers, who are used to not sleeping, but definitely not recommended for the average budget traveller. Ocean beach not a great location. Last bus from the city is at 6:45pm. I've heard pacific beach is the place to go, not ocean beach.

I have travellelled Africa, Asia and America for the last 3 months and these are the most unfriendly staff I have ever encountered. there are far too many rules, if you like boot camp then you'll love this place. we had to shorten our stay get out of there and move to another hostel. I do not recomend this place.

The alcohol curfew should be reconsidered. It makes staying there more expensive as you must spend money elsewhere if you want a good time. Also, the big guy who wears black is not at all friendly and his employment should also be reconsidered.

Everything was great, especially the location.

Very funky, cool place but extremely humid inside--any wet clothes, towels, swimsuits I had didn't dry even if I hung them in my room for two days. Matresses were also very old.

The hostel is in a very good location, and the people I met made it great. However in my experience with the acceptation of maybe 2, the staff here are very rude, unhelpful and disrespectful. For example, forgetting to take my bag to storage (mid stay) because I had to rush to work un expectantly meant my clothes, valuables, bags and everything I owned was thrown out of the window only a decent room mate got them back in for me. . OB itself is an amazing place though.
