The security is very poor. I think the hostel needs a guard or something, because one of the hotel guests gave me the security code for the door before I had even checked in!!! I wasn't even carrying a bag- so I didn't have the appearance of being a guest about to check in. Thandi, from South Africa ~ 31st Oct 2009

A great hostel to stay if you wanna be next to the beach in a very cool location in San Diego. I stayed in a 6 dorm room and it was tiny for 6 people, also was very hot, just had a small window and a ceiling fan. The staff is cool and always trying to make fun events, people are very friendly and get together really well. The only hostel I stayed in San Diego. Good to stay few nights, at least for me. Right next to the beach, great staff, great fun at the hostel...until 9pm when you have to stop drinking. They also have a strange rule where you pretty much have to leave your room from 11am to 3pm, which is a bit annoying. The beer pong and the Tijuana tour are great though. The room was sweltering hot at night, like an oven. I was sweating all night and couldn't sleep. There was no air conditioning or ventilation. Even a fan in front of the window would have been nice. But the only window was blocked by one of the bunks, so the air wasn't distributed to the rest of the room (if there even WAS a breeze). I had to go sleep in my car. I guess I can't expect too much for $18/night. On the bright side, even though I didn't have a chance to take advantage of the break Martin, from USA ~ 7th Aug 2009

Good location if you want to be near the beach. Downtown not too far away... only 20 mins on the bus. Staff very friendly snd helpful! Big lockers in room. Would recommend staying here! Graeme, from England ~ 26th May 2009
