if you make the booking online, they will send someone to the airport to wait for you (even if you don't send your flight info). Staff is very friendly. However, there wasn't any hot water when I was there. Cold shower! SuShien, from USA ~ 12th Nov 2009

poor value for money, we felt we were ripped off as one of the receptionists let it slip that they normally charge $10 per night instead of $15 that we paid! an increase of 50%! cleanliness - towels, bedding and toilet/bathroom - all disgusting. beware of expensive treks offered - you can make your own arrangements for much less (e.g. they booked us a hotel in Pokhara for $10/700NPR but afterwards we discovered the real price was 500NPR; maybe it sounds like no big deal, but actually what they c Greg, from Poland ~ 28th Oct 2009

Enjoyed the 'service with a smile' at Shangri-la Guest House. Management were caring and professional and staff would always try to provide. The premises is clean and in a cosy yet convenient cul-de-sac in Kathmandu centre, with precious greenery surrounds and great views from rooftop restaurant. We holidayed in the Nepalese summer so hot water was available from the tap, but staff will provide hot water in buckets. Comfortable rooms with english TV channels and back up generator. Thumbs up! I loved this hostel -it's tucked away just off the main tourist area in KTM (thamel) and has an amasing roof top terrace that you can see the mountains and the monkey temple from - it is the perfect place to chill out! I made lots of lovely friends here, was really well looked after by the staff and went on some fantastic trips inside and outside of the city to beautiful places that i never would have found on my own! I stayed in Nepal for 5 months and everytime I came back to Kathmandu I stayed Rebecca, from England ~ 15th Nov 2009
