This hotel is quite new and room is clean. The staffs are little gloomy but kind. But they can't do anything without manager's permission even the lift to Petra. We asked shuttle to Petra one day before but the staff only said that we should ask the manager directly despite the manager always out. After all we couldn't get shuttle and the staff pays money to taxi to send us to Petra. He said that we should take taxi for return way and be paid back money. But the all taxi from Petra has never run with meter and refuse us in small money. We required the manager 3JD( our best!) to be paid back but he refused to say that I could return only 1JD. After argument he unwillingly reduces 3JD from our accommodation fee. Instead,he turned off hot water. As far as seeing other reviews this hotel treats costumer as normal in high season but we might not expect in low season. He throws over the room key to us. It seems represent what he is like. During our stay nobody came here; meanwhile, the opposite side of the hotel had many tourists.

My husband and I spent 3 nights in this hostel, double room ensuite. The owners were nice and no pushy. We were recomended a very nice arabic restaurant and a turkish bath which were always busy with locals + very clean (good sign!).The hostel is very close to the town centre, shops, etc. If you are a light sleeper ask for a back room if available, also cooler in the summer.Hot water available, but we didn't use it as it was quite warm outside. The hostel is pretty new and clean and we also felt really at home.I would recommend anyone to stay in Wadi Mousa as oppose to stay closer to Petra main entrance if you want to leave the local atmosphere.Hello to Mohamad and his brother, we truly enjoyed our stay and your company.Claudia&Gearoid

A very basic hostel, but the staff is very willing to go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable.

Great stay at the Shara Mountains Hostel. The staff were willing to drive us to the entrance of Petra, as well as line up a very cheap taxi on our way out! Owner says he's working on getting air-conditioning put in sometime in the near future, although the nights cool down nicely for sleeping with an open window. If you choose a room on the view-side, the street can be kind of noisy below, so if you are a light sleeper, you may want to get a room on the back side.

Shara Mountains is a great place to stay when visiting Petra. It\'s clean, the staff are very friendly and the back rooms are very quiet. The best restaurants and internet cafes are a 5 minute walk down the hill and it\'s about a 20 min. walk to the entrance of Petra and a little bit more coming back if you are up for it.

Not bad for the money you pay. Clean. Friendly personal. Not too far from the entrance to Petra. A lot of places to eat or to buy food.
The owner/manager is very friendly. Speaks very good English and is an all-around fun guy. Highly recommend this hostel. Very clean and rooms are large. However, rooms at the front (near the road) are very noisy. Suggested that you request a room towards the back.

If you\'re looking after something luxurious, this isn\'t the place. Besides that, it has all you need for spending a couple of days in Petra and its surroundings. A most friendly staff always ready to assist (Thanks!). The rooms are clean and have warm water in the shower (important!). The atmosphere is calm and safe. In short, we enjoyed it very much.
A wicked place to stay! The staff are really helpful and the place is really clean and comfortable. I would stay here again

Minor things at minor cost would enable substantial improvesments. A longer shower curtain or a "squeegy" to clean up the water after a shower. The reading lamp on the wall was broken, as was the support holding the shower head.
