Direct behind the Protea Hotel, closest location to the airport. Helpful and very friendly staff, free internet via wifi. Breakfast is cornflakes or toast. Andreas, from Germany ~ 11th Jan 2012

If you just need a bed, breakfast, super close to the airport, shuttle service, and a cheap price, I definitely recommend this place. The owner is nice and offers personalized service. Other than this and internet service, the place offers no other luxuries. Pablo, from USA ~ 12th Dec 2011

Rob (the owner) was super nice and so accommodating.He does free airport pick ups and has free wireless internet.He also picked me up when I had a long layover and let me hang out for a few hours and freshen up.I would highly recommend this hostel for people going through Joburg and who have quick over nights. This was my 1st visit to shoestrings. It was close to the airport which suited my need as I had a flight the following morning and a rental car to leave so location was excellent for me plus the free shuttle to and from the airport was flipping fabulous. Joburg is pretty pricey when it comes to accomodation and shoestrings was the cheapest I could find. Rob the owner was a cool laid back guy, friendly and full of knowledge and always willing to help.
