Nice and cheep hostel in Joburg, the staff is great! The hostel has this Christian healing school connected to it, which is quite an experience - but one I wouldnt live without!

It was an interesting place to crash for a night - a good number of people staying there have been there for long extended stays (including locals/expats), which made for an interesting cast of characters. It was the only hostel I stayed in Joburg and it was fine, and I hear it is relatively a very good one - the others are supposedly dumps.

I was not able to stay at Sleek Backpackers because they lost my reservation. I was very disappointed with them and even more frustrated that I paid for a deposit which was not refunded to me.

This place seems good enough on the surface. The house has an interesting layout and many hostel-esque features, but during our stay they were completing several remodeling projects. Our room was not ready when we arrived because they were doing construction on it. We were woken every day by the sounding of sanding outside our door and had to climb over tools and equipment to get to the bathroom (which was freezing and dirty). We also overheard the manager cussing out some workers in the hallway outside our room. A very rude and nasty man: don't give him your business! The location is terrible, unless you have a car (in which case it's just a little less terrible). You don't want to walk around this neighborhood during night or day. Finally, when we were checking out, we were quoted a sales price twice what our reservation had said. Luckily we had the paper with us to set them straight; they are either very disorganized or they are crooks.

The place was horrible. The shuttle didn't show up to the airport. I called afer 30 minutes and they said they were coming and 2 hours later it came. i finally got to sleek and they did not honor the reservation made on hostel world and said that no such rooms existed and tried to charge me 3 times the amount. the shuttle was also triple the price they had promised. i was forced to stay in a disgusting dorm with people who appeared to be employees there an dnot other guests.

I had to wait over 2hrs to be picked up from the airport and there were a few dodgey locals hanging around who I'm not sure what they did there
