we're exchange students in nagoya, and came to visit kyoto during break. the hostel about a 15 min walk from kyoto station. we had a private room for 5, so it was private, clean, and secure. lot of fun nights on futons in the tatami mat room. however, although we were on the top floor, traffic on the road next to us was loud at times. Its a very diferent kind of hostel because you dont have any place to stay after 11pm, so you must go to sleep or go out. There is not wifi, and just 1 line to all of guess to connect a laptop. The six mixed room is 1 square metre, it should be just for 2 people. The cleanes in the rooms was very poor, the ded is ok, but down my bed there was 1 cm of dust. The staff does not speak any English. If you have time look for another one... patricio, from Chile ~ 13th Sep 2009

Very nice hostel. It`s just annoying that you have nowhere to put your backpack. I`d stay here again. Vanessa, from Germany ~ 18th Aug 2009

Difficult to find. You need to check in at Station Ryokan Seiki which is their partner hotel 5 minutes away. Fairly average hostel. There are much better hostels in Koyto. murray, from Australia ~ 30th Sep 2009

Least favorite hostel in japan, only because the staff is not all that friendly, and the location is rather far away from buses and the kyoto JR station. The place was kept very clean, this place is rather new, the rooms can get very hot at night, and there are only curtains for the bottom bunks of beds, and not the top bunks, which if the main light in the rooms are on, can be very annoying. There is no freakin wifi in this hostel which is a big flaw, especially when you only have on Moises, from USA ~ 13th Apr 2009

Small place but very comfy beds. Would have been good to check in at the same place where we were staying, but they have a separate building for checking in a few minutes walk from the dorms... a bit annoying to walk around with luggage. But all was forgotten when we saw the place which had ski-lodge meets ryokan feel to it. Abdul Haseeb, from Pakistan ~ 5th Apr 2009

cramped. Literally staying in a hallway with bunks. No locker, so hope you can trust your hostel mates. Good for the price but not recommended Kyle, from USA ~ 3rd Apr 2009
