fun bar down stairs. good for a night out on the town. have stayed a few times. recommended compared to other hostels in edinburgh.

A couple mornings the free breakfast was late - so there goes the chance to start sightseeing b4 the crowds. But central location is a must

Perfectly adequate, only we really missed having a kitchen. We had a bit of a struggle to get clean sheets at first but got there in the end. It was nice having a shower ensuite and it was very reasonably priced.

Breakfast's a CATASTROPHE! How should someone have a breakfast without any bread and milk?? (+ not enough space for all the people wanting to eat). The chill out longe's clean and cosy - a good place to rest one's feet after shopping ;o)

The central location was excellent for getting around, but it was also a drawback because of the street noise after the pubs closed, which tended to wake us up around 3am and keep us awake. I don't think you can really do much about that.

Good location, though the hostel itself isn't kept up particularly well. Showers were quite dirty, and in one of our dormitory's shower rooms, there was no light switch and no window, rendering it useless, and forcing 14 of us to share one shower - quite a bit of bother. The corridor to our room similarly had no light nor window, and we had to find our room by guess-and-checking all the doors in pitch blackness with our keycard!

No kitchen was a downside - only a microwave in the chill out room.

What a blaaaand hostel. Way to much "australiana" and thats coming from an aussie. The "chillout room" was stinking hot. And the reception being behind the bar was very impersonal, what is it a bar or a hostel. cheezey posters all over the walls and swipe cards with the australian flag on them made me want to vomit. Had franchise written all over it. Other than that, I've been in worse.

The hostel was generally clean, but the toilets had intermittent problems flushing and the room showers didn't appear to be cleaned very often. Overall a great place though!

Some kind of kitchem for visitors would be very useful.
