front street facing rooms have a lot of traffic noise all night long.

A very nice a clean little hotel, ideal for backpackers/business travellers who want a cheap, yet clean hotel. Location is brilliant, staff are great, not the most social of places, but great overall

We recommend the St. Clair Hotel to anyone travelling in or through Vancouver. It is very clean, extremely quiet at night, and close to great bars, clubs, art galleries and more. It is old but well maintained; the rooms are decent sized and have bunks but are very cozy. No A/C but it wasn't hot while we were there. It closes at 10 making it more secure - don't worry, you'll get a key so you can stay out as late as you want! Plus, it's very cute.

It would have been nice if they had air conditioning. Otherwise, good staff and good location.

We were only here one night because the Urban Hideaway next door (where we spent most of our stay) was booked for the last night of our time in Vancouver, so we didn't have much time to form an opinion. The staff was very friendly upon check-in. The room was spartan, but clean. If you stay here, bring shower shoes because the showers were a little bit iffy (though not gross). Overall impression: no frills, but adequate, and the price really can't be beat.

This was a great find in downtown Vancouver. The location was excellent and the price was a bargin. We would certainly recommend St Clair to other travellers.

Our rental car got broken into (passenger window smashed in), didn't have anything in there to steal. We were parked in the parking garage across the street from the cathedral. Other than the car inconvenience, our stay at St.Clair hotel in Vancouver was quite pleasant.

I liked this place a lot - very laid back yet clean and quiet. Officially no smoking, though they didn't seem to do anything about the lingering odor of pot that was pervasive, so as long as you don't mind that, it's a good deal especially for its location near Gastown.

The staff at the hostel were very friendly and welcoming, Although i say the seecurity was excellent, i wouldn't have wanted to be staying there alone. The area was okay, good location but again i wouldn't be out at dark on my own-a little dodgey...clean though:)
