This hostel stay was the worst ever. We have never experienced this type of lack of service minded staff anywhere, and we travel a lot in Asia. We payed a great deal of money to stay there over new years eve and we were not satisfied. We got an ant-infested room wich we were not compensated for nor got a new room. The staff didn't even care about the situation and lied by saying there boss would take care of the situation. This never happened, since their boss never showed up. We would not recommend anyone to stay at this hostel.

I have booked private room with 2-bed through internet for a 3 nights stay in Summer Tavern during Christmas eve. However, when I arrived, the hostel staff told me that there is no private room left and only able to give me a dormitory room. Hence, I ask them for refund for the balance money that i pay for private room, they reluctant to pay. After talking to the boss, they agree to pay me the balance and credit into my account. However, until now, I havent receive any payback balance from them! So ridiculous! Though the location of the hostel is strategic, i am deeply regard to choose to stay in Summer Tavern as the hostel's staffs are not helpful nor friendly; they only allow to turn on air-con during night time. The shower also are broken and only small drops of water coming out from the shower. This is the worst hostel that i ever stay in my travel so far since i been travelling to Europe to many hostels. If anyone want to stay in this hostel, think twice and don't regret.

We did not like this place. We booked a double room and when we arrived they said that our booking and deposit wasnt valid and that they would have to move us to a 24 person dorm (which was unbelievably crammed). Not a good experience.

The location is really fantastic and every hostel crews are really kind~!! I would recommend this hostel to eveyone who wants visit Singapore!!
The security is extremely poor. In one day one staff member had left all keys hanging on a door knob, without guarding. Anyone could have taken the keys and enter in any room. On the other day after they cleaned our private room, they left the door open. Not only unlocked, but ajar as well.

The hostel makes you pre-pay your stay as soon as you check-in. We paid for 3 nights, but had to check out early after 1 night due to an emergency and we were told 'too bad, our money was lost'. We got no refund even though we left because of an EMERGENCY. We made reservations in advance for a "private" room for 2 and were told that those were all taken by the time we arrived. Also, if you're an early riser, good luck because you pretty much can't leave the hostel until 9am because the security/attendant was sleeping on a couch right in front of the door. So much for security! Cleanliness? Sure, if your idea of clean is showering & sleeping with spiders & lizards. We've travelled all over the world and stayed in many hostels and hands-down, this was our worst experience, a nightmare to say the least. Beware!

The location is excellent. Walking distance to everything. The common area is nice. The beer carries Fosters as its only choice for beer, but there are many many bars/pubs/clubs within a 5 min walk. There isnt an elevator so be prepared to climb stairs.

We booked a double room which turned out to be a tiny windowless closet with noisy aircon. Apart from this our stay had been enjoyable. Hostel location is really good, bathrooms were clean, staff isn't too bad.
Rhis place was awful,completely over priced for a 20 bed dorm even tho I booked for us 2 b in an 8 bed dorm,staff really rude and breakfast pathetic they wouldnt even give me any butter at 9.30 am even tho breakfast was til 10!!and I am not a fussy backpacker but a smile would b nice!
