Interesting place. The comedy night is a great night and you really can have a cheap stay whilst your there. Breakfast is free and at the other chain hostels there is a free dinner every night (from bbq to sarnys) which is always a good night. if you like to party and socialise this is the hostel for you, if not... find somewhere else; it's not exactly the quietest of hostels.

I was not happy with this hostel the moment that I set foot in it. First of all, it stank of alcohol. Then I had reserved a place in a girls dorm but was placed in an all boys dorm because they were fully booked. The toilets were filthy. And at night the hostel is very noisy with all the clubs near by. There was a lot of lewd behaviour around the hostel, a lot of drunk people. And also the hostel is so far away from hollywood, try 1 and a half hours!

The hostel itself was nothing special. The location is great though, right by the pier and beach and loads of bars. My dorm was clean and I was lucky to get one with ensuite. There was nowhere to meet people and socialise in this hostel, since although they had a tv room it was very small and seemed to be a few guys watching sport. they did have a smoking room, but i don't smoke. Actually they did organise a trip to a club in venice, but i ended up staying in the bars round the hostel. luckily there were some nice girls in my room so we went out to the bars. The security of the hostel was bad and weird. You needed a key to get in the front door, but the back door was always left wide open! so anyone could just walk in off the street! the staff were friendly.

Really enjoyed the stay. Staff were cool, down to earth and helpful. The location was great,right at the beach and good access to the rest of L.A.
