  • I thought it was a great place to stay. IT wasn't super secure and there weren't any mosquito nets or screens, but the bugs weren't bad, so it was ok. The place itself was beautiful, the proprieters are really nice and chill and it was a really great place to hang out and meet people. It was also really nice and quiet at night so it was easy to sleep and it wasn't very noisy in the morning either so sleeping in was a definite option. I would definitely tell other people to stay there.

  • It is true that this is a home rather than a proper hostel, but Surf and the City is beautiful! All the common rooms are clean, comfortable, and inviting, and the dorm rooms are sufficient for getting a good night's rest. The atmosphere is quite calm and relaxed. Location is good: some of the best restaurants in the city are just down the street and a People Mover bus stop is within a 15 min walk. Bottom line: I will go back next time I am in Durban, and would recommend this place to my friends.
