It's a good place although the toilets are just disgusting, I think you can find something better in Beijing

The rooms was nice and big. The bathroom however left much to the imagination. I had to try and hold the pieces of the shower head together to get a shower in the womans upstairs restroom. Regardlessly, the locations if really close to the subway station, and some local eateries. I have no idea if there is such a thing as their breakfast at the establishment, but that is ok as there is a breads place just a few houses down. In general if you want a very quite place to stay its perfect. It was relaxing to stay there. I would consider it if i decided to go back to Beijing.

Quaint, cool, relaxed little place... rooms are clean and "aesthetically pleasant," the staff is mostly young out-of-town english-speaking chinese students, and it's located in the heart of the hutongs - which is cool. The court yard is a cool chill respite from the friction and speed of Beijing. The neighborhood is super friendly and anything you need is a 2 minute walk away. Hop outside and catch any bus heading north (or walk 15 minutes) to wander around the Lama Temple neighborhood and the neighboring parks. ... finding it can be a tiny bit confusing - Dongsi Qi(7) Tiao doesn't have a sign on both of its entrances, and is actually located off of a sort of fork. Basically walk down Dongsi Qi Tiao if you see it, or walk down Dongsi Ba(8) Tiao and cut over when Dongsi Qi Tiao intersects OR, take the short-cut through a little alley next to the public bathroom. If you find yourself at the intersection of three little alleys/streets, it is a few meters away. The hostel has a white sign with red letters, although its sometimes turned off late at night. here is the phone # (86) 6405-1538

I know that hostels are different from hotels. However I think that Sweetgarden House needs to lift its game. The staff are overly casual. e.g. It says that someone will meet you from the airport if prior notice is given. I tried to do this, and first got back an e-mail saying I would have to pay some extra money re. toll road or something. No problem. Next, I got another e-mail asking for the details of my flight - no problem. Next, nothing - needless to say, nobody there to meet me. Also, asked one staff member if they could possibly give me a wake-up call. Yes they could, but no they didn,t. The staff competence is v. patchy, depending on who is on, and their respective English levels. Also, I have to say, SweetHouse, get off your asses, and clean those toilets properly every day. Making the beds after a previous person has left would also be a good idea. Sorry about this, I do not usually make negative criticismand I am not one of these high-maintenance, neurotic, impossible to please types of people. Joan

This hostel is great. The location is second to none - about a 15 minute walk from the Forbidden City an T. Square, but better yet is the fact that it's set in a fantastic Hutong area. We arrived at midnight and thought we were staying in a dodgy ghetto, but next day, walking through, was amazing. The people are so friendly and there's a great atmosphere and vibe about the whole place. I highly recommend the Sweet Garden House just for its location! The rooms are very clean. The only thing that lets this place down is the state of the bathrooms, as others have pointed out. They are filthy. However, this was a minor problem, and one that certainly didn't detract from the brilliant experience that we had there. I will definately stay here when I re-visit Beijing.

Staff are generally friendly. The toilets are very limited, i think only 4 are available to be shared by 20+ people. maybe i am wrong. Inside the toilet, layout andfixtures shold be improved asap. Quite a interesting stay for me anyway.

Apart from the fact that the kitchen was really disgustingly dirty this is a good hostel. If you don't want access to a kitchen then this is a pleasant place with pleasant helpful staff. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are clean. It is situated in an interestiing hutong with some friendly people living there. Being picked up from the airport was really helpful saving a lot of hassles!
This property is very charming, but the bathroom was not clean. Beds were comfortable, but room was tiny. The staff were not very knowledgeable about the area - couldn't answer our questions about where things were. We found out on the last day we could have breakfast - but you have to wake the front office guy up to get it, and we didn't feel comfortable about that.
