I wished they had replenished the toilet papers and clear the bin in the toilet regularly. It took us some time to locate the place, even though it was just 15mins walk from the train station. We had to seek help from the people at the tourist information centre, who took great pains to explain us the directions. Luckily we could understand mandarin. It would have been safer if they had provided the room key to the respective occupants. But the owner was helpful in recommending places to visit. Estelle, from Singapore ~ 23rd Jun 2009

LOVE THIS PLACE AND THE OWNER's FAMILY TOO MUCH! Thanks Stella( owner) and her super adorable daughter vivian for giving me such a wonderful memories in taiwan! My staying at taroko 18 seems more like a cozy and fun family stay rather than staying in a lifeless hostel! i really enjoyed the times that we spent together ...eating supper and playing fireworks )^:^( This is definitely the place that u r supposed to be if u r looking for an unforgettale vacation! lim, from Malaysia ~ 23rd May 2009

The hostel owners are very warm and welcoming. For the price one is paying, it seems as though we've underpaid for the generosity and help rendered by the owners of the hostel. The place is very clean and spacious. One can also walk from the train station to the hostel with little problems. I'll definitely return to the hostel for more adventures in Hualian! It was a fantastic stay in Taroko 18! Friendly people and had alot of fun! The person-in-charge make an effort to wake up early to help us call a cab and bargain with the cab-driver to get the lowest rate =) Clean place. If you go to Hualien, this hostel is definitely a bargain! Nice place, nice people, clean, what more can you ask for? I will definitely patronize again if i every going to Hualien again! This isnt really a hostel. Its a home with rooms that they rent out. The people who own it are plenty nice and all but there arent enough guest for them to be there full time or have a fulltime staff. My stay wasnt bad just a bit weird. I d recommend staying at one of the other hostels closer to the train station. Spenecer, from USA ~ 25th Apr 2009

After a long day of traveling, we were so happy to see this place. It's quiet, comfortable, and very clean. The owner of the hostel is super nice and helped us organize our trip to Taroko Gorge by bargaining a taxi for us. With directions, it's an easy walk from the train station. If you are looking for a really interactive youth hostel experience, this is probably not it, but for a comfortable home away from home, I'd recommend this to anyone! Yan, from USA ~ 21st Feb 2009
