PROS> location (everything is nearby), staff (helpfull), storage room ($5 for entire Kepler trek which we have done), triple room (spacious), cleaniness was average CONS> internet (very slow and expensive as almost everywhere in NZ), kitchen a bit untidy. Even if it is advertised as a place with Internet, do not count on it. The latency in Te Anau is between crappy and very crappy. Special thanks to the staff who helped me when I was sick. Hostel is located just downtown Te Anau. They have a big kitchen and also a tv room. Internet is expensive in te anau and lakefront backpacker's computers are from stone age so bring your own. Double rooms have their own (shared) smaller kitchen. Olli, from Finland ~ 18th Dec 2011

Great hostel and an excellent place to sleep and relax whilst exploring South New Zealand. This place felt more like a home or a hotel than a hostel. Very spacious, clean, comfortable, and peaceful.
