cockroach welcome us ^^ wow... Location is only good...................^^ YUE JI, from South Korea ~ 14th Feb 2012

The building was heated to an uncomfortable temperature, the beds had no support, and the breakfast supplied was lacking. It would save money to turn down the thermostats and offer blankets instead, and breakfast could be upgraded from peanut butter and jelly. On the worst bread ever. Hostels.com did not relay that tax would be added once we arrived at the hostel, making a (very) small bedroom only $10 cheaper than if we'd chosen a hotel just down the street. This is an old style hotel but the cleanliness and comfort were great. We had a small and cosy room with nice bed linen and fresh towels were given each day. There was cable tv in the room. The staff were very freindly and helpful. The location makes this a top pick: close to the subway and in walking distance of all the major sites. We walked to Georgetown most days for a meal but other bars and cafes are nearby in GWU. We will definitely stay here again. Mary, from Australia ~ 11th Nov 2011

VERY STRANGE PLACE. We are a young couple travelling across the USA, we are on a budget and have stayed in lots of 'budget' hostels and hotels but this DEFINITELY has to be the worst. Where to begin? The staff, customer service ranges, a couple of friendly members of staff and cleaners who were welcoming and polite but none of them seemed like they wanted to be there. The worst member of staff has to be the assistant manager, he checked us in and seemed on a different planet. He gave no inform jennifer, from England ~ 24th Oct 2011

Horrible place. There were cockroaches in the room, and ants continuously coming through the A/C hole. The bedsheets were old and ripped. I'd never seen a radiator so dirty in my entire life, and the the hotel is probably the shoddiest looking building in all of Washington. It is, however, the cheapest hotel in town, so... I was given my own room even tho I booked a dorm because there was room and this was a wonderful surprise. The housekeeper found my expensive battery charger with rechargeable batteries in it and brought it to my new room, another noble act !The windows need dark curtains and the beds definitely need new mattresses. Quiet time needs to be posted - someone was unreasonably loud on their phone walking up and down the hallways that I had to tell her to be quiet at 10 pm.Metro nearby & quiet Lynn, from USA ~ 17th Jul 2011

The location was right off George Washington's campus, which was nice. Our bunk bed private room cost $50 (for july 3rd night) a bed, which was way overpriced. The walls were barren white and the shower was of poor quality. The reception people were sometimes quite rude.I was meditating in the lobby and the guy behind the desk made everyone leave so he could dim the lights so he could sleep!A lady working there loudly said she'd kill herself if she had to explain the breakfast again. She wasn't s Alex, from USA ~ 5th Jul 2011
